Seahawks Will Emerge Victorious From XLIX

Super Bowl XLIX sounds like a super matchup on paper between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. However, last year’s Super Bowl between the Seahawks and Denver Broncos had the makings of a great game. In the end, the Seahawks pummeled the Broncos 44-8 and many were left wondering how the game turned into another super dud.

Let’s hope this year’s Super Bowl will live up to its billing.sbinsignia

In one corner, you have Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and the rest of the New England Patriots who defeated the Indianapolis Colts pretty handily in the AFC Championship game. Over the last two weeks, the Patriots have had to answer numerous questions about Deflategate which arose after 11 Patriots’ game balls were found to be two pounds under the league limit.

Their opponent is the Seattle Seahawks who overcame the largest deficit in a NFC Championship game to defeat the Green Bay Packers 28-22 in overtime.

With four minutes left in regulation, the Seahawks trailed 19-7 before an onside kick, sandwiched between touchdowns by Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch, put the Seahawks up by 1. After converting the two point conversion in dramatic style, the Packers kicked a field goal to send the game into overtime. Wilson completed the comeback by throwing a perfect spiral 50 yards downfield to Jevon Kearse who caught it at the goal line and was promptly tackled in the end zone.

Offensively, I believe these teams to be even. While the Patriots have a slight edge in passing due to tight end Rob Gronkowski, the Seahawks have a stronger running game with Marshawn Lynch leading the attack.

Both defenses are strong and have shutdown corners in Darrelle Revis of the Patriots and Richard Sherman of the Seahawks. However, the linebackers and secondary of the Seahawks are fast and athletic and will prove the difference in the game.lynch4

Look for the Seahawks to win 21-17 with Marshawn Lynch winning MVP honors.

And that’s…as I see it!
