Durant No Longer Minces Words with Media

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant is finally comfortable enough with the media to tell them how he really feels. When questioned this weekend at the All-Star festivities in New York, Durant had his to say to reporters after being questioned about the job security of Oklahoma City Thunder coach Scott Brooks.

“You guys really don’t know s—,” Durant told reporters.

It is no secret Durant has often publicly supported his coach who he believes never gets the credit when the Thunder are successful, but is the first to blame when they lose.

After Durant’s out of character response, the media asked what questions they should ask.

“To be honest, man, I’m only here talking to y’all because I have to,” Durant said. “So I really don’t care. Y’all not my friends. You’re going to write what you want to write. You’re going to love us one day and hate us the next. That’s a part of it. So I just learn how to deal with y’all.”

These responses are so out of character for Durant who has always tried to say the right thing to the media even if he may have felt differently about a certain issue.

It definitely seems like Durant is frustrated with the season so far. He has missed 26 games due to injury, and the Thunder remain eight games behind Portland in the Northwest Division and one game behind Phoenix for the final Western Conference playoff spot. durant 2

Many have even questioned Durant’s inclusion on the Western Conference all-star team after missing 26 games. His scoring is down close to seven points a game from his MVP season last year and he is getting to the line 3.1 less times a game.

Anthony Slater of Yahoo Sports tweeted the following on February 6.

Kevin Durant on his All-Star selection: “Whoever wants my spot, can play me one-on-one for it.”
