Kris Bryant Adds Excitement for Major League Baseball

The promotion of Kris Bryant to the major leagues by the Chicago Cubs adds a breath of fresh air to the beginning of the baseball season. It reminds me a lot of when Mike Trout and Bryce Harper were promoted.

Bryant is a third baseman who played his college ball for the University of San Diego. The Cubs sent him down at the end of training camp only to bring him up last Friday and plug him in batting cleanup.

In three games, Bryant has gone 3 for 10 with an rbi and one extra-base hit. He led the Major Leagues this spring with nine home runs and batted .425 in 14 games. Bryant also led the Minor Leagues with 43 home runs at Double-A Tennessee and Iowa last year.

The city of Chicago is also excited over Bryant’s promotion as stated by The Chicago Tribune.

In a newly released video from Red Bull, Bryant is shown biding his time on an actual farm, strolling amid chickens, trying to milk a cow and belting baseballs into cornfields. Meanwhile, Cubs fans and Chicago celebrities debate the impact Bryant will have on helping the team ultimately end the infamous “Curse of the Billy Goat.”

“Man, I don’t believe in the curse of the goat,” says Joakim Noah, the Bulls’ 6-foot-11 center, who later adds, “I don’t care that Kris is Chicago’s new favorite guy. He’s only 6-5. He’s still a miniature person.”

At the end of the video, Mike Ditka declares, “They called you up. Now’s your time; the wait is over.”

Whether Bryant helps the Cubs end the “Curse of the Billy Goat” remains to be seen, but he and free agent acquisition Jon Lester have given Cubs’ fans a lot to cheer about.

And that’s as I see it!
