Fans Who Think Jordan Could Defeat LeBron One-on-One Today are Delusional

Earlier in the week, a poll by Public Policy Polling and an online poll by ESPN both show that 34% of voters believe that Jordan who is now 52 could beat LeBron James in a game of one-on-one if they played today.11_16_09-lebron-and-jordan

Are you kidding me? Jordan hasn’t played in the NBA in 12 years and even then he had showed signs of slowing down. Jordan averaged 20 points a game in his final season playing for the Washington Wizards which is way down from his career average of 28.7 ppg.

At this point in LeBron’s career, I still consider Jordan to be the best basketball player of all time. However, that could change if LeBron continues to dominate his competition for the next ten years.

But to think that Jordan at 52 could beat LeBron at age 30 is just simply asinine. Much like Jordan when he was 30, LeBron just simply takes over games. In a tough Eastern Conference semifinals against the Chicago Bulls, LeBron averaged 26.2 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 8.8 assists as the Cleveland Cavaliers overcame a 2-1 deficit to win three in a row and close out the series in six games.

While Jordan still looks good at age 52, he has packed on some weight since his playing days and would not be able to keep up with LeBron’s speed and quickness. Jordan spends most of his days smoking cigars as he hits the golf links. In addition, Jordan is also the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets who were previously known as the Bobcats. It was rumored that Jordan defeated Hornets’ guard Michael Kidd-Gilchrist in a game of one-on-one a few years ago. If that is true, all I can say is Kidd-Gilchrist is a far cry from LeBron.

If fans truly believe Jordan can beat LeBron one-on-one, then maybe someone needs to step forward to bring Jordan and LeBron on board and make this fantasy game a reality. That seems to be the only way to put to bed the delusional thoughts some of these Jordan backers have about his ability to defeat the much younger LeBron.

And that’s as I see it!
