Romo Committed to Bringing a Championship to Dallas

Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo would love to build on last season’s success and take the team to the Super Bowl. In order to do that, Romo has cut back on some of his favorite hobbies such as golf, basketball, and soccer in hopes of not reinjuring his back that required back surgery prior to the 2014 season. Considering Romo is a scratch golfer who is possibly good enough to qualify for the PGA Tour, that is quite a sacrifice Romo is making for the good of the team.romo3

This is the third offseason in a row Romo has given up his golf game. This offseason has included Romo cutting back on pickup basketball and soccer games that he uses to stay in shape and fuel his competitive nature. Instead, Romo has been training hard including strengthening his core, back, and legs in an attempt not to miss any games. Although he sat out one game due to injury last season, Romo had one of the best seasons of his career making the Pro Bowl and being named Second Team All-Pro after passing for 34 touchdowns and 3,705 yards with only nine interceptions. He also led the NFL in passer rating last season for the second time in his career.

Romo owns 14 Dallas Cowboys’ passing records including most touchdown passes and career passing yards, but he is still considered third when discussing the top Cowboys’ quarterbacks of all-time. Troy Aikman won three Super Bowls in the ’90’s and Roger Staubach won the first two Cowboys’ Super Bowls in the 1970’s. Romo has obliterated most of their passing records, but has nothing to show for it other than being labeled as a choke artist who makes mistakes late in games that cost his team the win.

This is the year Romo hopes to change that. He consistently made big throws throughout last season and was not the quarterback throwing late game interceptions as he has often done throughout his career. Team owner Jerry Jones has gone out and provided Romo and his teammates with a talented roster that is looking to bring the Cowboys back to Bowl for the first time since 1996. How far the Cowboys go is dependent on Romo’s health since he has already proven his commitment to Jones, his teammates, coaching staff, and fans.

And that’s as I see it!
