2019 NFL Mock Draft 1.0

I put this together based on team needs and my personal liking to how the player fits with the team that drafted him. This mock draft was created on 2/28/2019 prior to the NFL combine.

1. Arizona Cardinals- Who they will select: Nick Bosa, DE, Ohio St.

Analysis: The Cardinals rebuild their defense with the best pass rusher in the draft.

2. San Francisco 49ers- Who they will select: Quinnen Williams, DT, Alabama

Analysis: Williams is strong against the run and will help the Niners porous rush defense.

3. New York Jets- Who they will select: Josh Allen, OLB, Kentucky

Analysis: The Jets will get an edge rusher who recorded 17 sacks for Kentucky last fall.

4. Oakland Raiders- Who they will select: Montez Sweat, DE, Mississippi St.

Analysis: The Raiders are in dire need of grabbing an elite pass rusher to replace Kahlil Mack.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Who they will select: Rashan Gary, DE , Michigan

Analysis: Gary was the top ranked high school player his senior year, but massively underachieved for the Wolverines.

6. New York Giants- Who they will select: Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio St.

Analysis: The Giants get the top-ranked pure passer in the draft.

7. Jacksonville Jaguars- Who they will select: Jonah Williams, OL, Alabama

Analysis: Williams can provide steady offensive line play at either tackle or guide.

8. Detroit Lions- Who they will select: Clelin Ferrell, Edge, Clemson

Analysis: Ferrell would provide the Lions with a much needed pass rush.

9. Buffalo Bills- Who they will select: D.K. Metcalf, WR, Ole Miss

Analysis: The Bills will need a weapon for second-year quarterback Josh Allen

10. – Denver Broncos- Who they will select: Greedy Williams, CB, LSU

Analysis: The Broncos struggled against the pass last year after losing Aquib Talib.

11. Cincinnati Bengals- Who they will select: Jawaan Taylor, OT, Florida

Analysis: Taylor should start at tackle as a rookie for the Bengals.

12. Green Bay Packers- Who they will select: Jachai Polite, DE/OLB, Florida

Analysis: The premium on quarterback hunters continues.

13. Miami Dolphins- Who they will select: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

Analysis: The Dolphins start the Brian Flores era with the most electrifying quarterback in this draft.

14. Atlanta Falcons- Who they will select: Ed Oliver, DT, Houston

Analysis: Huge ceiling for this guy who can stuff the run and get to the quarterback.

15. Washington Redskins- Who they will select: Drew Lock, QB, Missouri

Analysis: The Redskins cannot rely on Mark Sanchez next year with Alex Smith facing a possible career-ending injury.

16. Carolina Panthers- Who they will select: Devin Bush, ILB, Michigan

Analysis: Bush is an inside backer who will replace Vontaze Burfict.

17. Cleveland Browns- Who they will select: Marquise Brown, WR, Oklahoma

Analysis: D.K. Metcalf’s running mate at Oklahoma will give Baker Mayfield yet another weapon as the Browns look to end their 17 year playoff drought.

18. Minnesota Vikings- Who they will select: Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson

Analysis: Sheldon Richardson may not be re-signed and Lawrence fills his spot while bringing a championship mentality to Minnesota.

19. Tennessee Titans- Who they will select: Christian Wilkins, DL, Clemson

Analysis: Wilkins would fit very well next to nose tackle Jurrell Casey in the Titans’ 3-4 base defense

20. Pittsburgh Steelers- Who they will select: Riley Ridley, WR, Georgia

Analysis: With wide receiver Antonio Brown as good as gone, the Steelers grab a receiver to pair with new number one, Juju Smith-Schuster.

21. Seattle Seahawks- Who they will select: Deionte Thompson, S, Alabama

Analysis: With free safety Earl Thomas set to leave via free agency, the Seahawks draft his heir  apparent.

22. Baltimore Ravens- Who they will select: Kelvin Harmon, WR, NC State

Analysis: Starting receivers Michael Crabtree and John Brown will not be returning. Harmon provides the size needed downfield for Lamar Jackson.

23. Houston Texans- Who they will select: Cody Ford, OL, Oklahoma

Analysis: Protecting quarterback Deshaun Watson, who was sacked a league- leading 62 times last season, should be the team’s top priority. Ford has the versatility to play tackle or guard.

24. Oakland Raiders- Who they will select: N’Keal Harry, WR, Arizona St.

Analysis: Sweat was drafted to take Mack’s place while Neal replaces the departed Amari Cooper.

25. Philadelphia Eagles- Who they will select: Deandre Baker, CB, Georgia

Analysis: You can never have enough corners in the pass-happy NFC East.

26. Indianapolis Colts- Who they will select: Brian Burns, DE, Florida St.

Analysis: In a draft rich in edge rushers, Burns falls in Indy’s lap.

27. Oakland Raiders- Who they will select: Byron Murphy, CB, Washington

Analysis: Jon Gruden is able to plug another hole in this dilapidated roster.

28. Los Angeles Chargers- Who they will select: Jerry Tillery, DT, Notre Dame

Analysis: The New England Patriots destroyed the interior defensive line of the Chargers in the playoffs. That can’t happen again if the Chargers truly want to win a Super Bowl for quarterback Philip Rivers before he retires.

29. Kansas City Chiefs- Who they will select: Trayvon Mullen, CB, Clemson

Analysis: As good as the Chiefs’ offense was last season, their defense was often exposed.

30. Green Bay Packers- Who they will select: Irv Smith, Jr., TE, Alabama

Analysis: Smith could provide a security blanket for star quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

31. Los Angeles Rams- Who they will select: Dre’mont Jones, DT, Ohio St.

Analysis: Ndamakong Suh may leave via free agency so Jones fits the bill.

32. New England Patriots- Who they will select: TJ Hockensen, TE, Iowa

Analysis: Whether Rob Gronkowski retires this year or not, Belichick grabs his tight end of the future.

And that’s as I see it!
